March Update

Amazingly, the month of March is here, and it will be over soon enough because the second half of the month is Spring Break.  Second Term Report Cards go home on the last day, so be on the look out for that.  This month's update is brief:

1. Math: We have finished Division and are now looking at Fractions.  This will lead into Decimals.

2. Science/LA: We have amalgamated these subject areas in the form of our written Biomes Science Poster/Report Project.  Students are working away and the final due date is the last day before Spring Break.  Students have a copy of the project outline.  CLICK HERE FOR A COPY.

3. Applied Design: We will take an in depth look at the new Applied Design curriculum in the final week to build model locomotives.  We'll look at our design, and consider ways to improve upon our locomotives in the future.

4. Other goings on: Guided Reading Groups, Spelling, Health, Fine Arts, and PE/DPA.

5. We will return to Social Studies after Spring Break.

February Overview

February is upon us and we have shifted from Social Studies back to Science, which will be a major cross curricular focus in conjunction with Language Arts, before Spring Break.  Here is the overview of the various curriculum topics we are focusing on.

1. Science: Biomes and Adaptations, including a written research report project on a chosen biome.
2. Math - Division (basic facts, as well as concepts and procedures, including multi-digit division).
3. Language Arts: Short Stories and Creative Writing, plus sentence structure and writing conventions.
4. Other ares: Spelling lessons, printing and handwriting practice, Math Games, simple French topics, Guided Reading leveled text activities, P.E. and DPA, two-dimensional Art along with basic digital music activities.
